Atsuo Suzuki was born in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, in 1977. Since 1999, Suzuki has created a lot of works, and he has solo exhibitions almost every year from 2000. He makes paintings by carving with scorper. First, a few colors are painted on a wooden board. And then, Suzuki carves many points strictly throughout the board after drying the color. The method and the work are called "Carved Painting". Suzuki says that it is persistently a painting even without brushes. The colors that you can see on the surface and the cross section carved create various aspects. Spots carved strictly claim his episodes of the day which have already become his memories and his hopes for the future. Then, the spots gathered reveal a scene of his mind that cut at the second. A mind cannot be kept the same condition constantly every moment. Suzuki captures his mazed sentiment into his work.
