Atsumasa Miura, born in Okazaki city, Aichi prefecture in 1973, is a Nagoya based artist. Miura has had solo exhibitions powerfully once a year since 2000. He creates sculptures with wood, "Hinoki". The works are constructed with wooden sticks cut like a thin band. The sticks are piled as if they are knitted and they are pasted each other by glue. The forms are full of variety like a square, a rectangular prism, and a column. For all of his works, the title as the theme is named ”森象”(shin-shou). These Japanese characters mean "forest" and "figure" separately. His work with the title depicts a forest oversaw.
